چکیده

ROLE OF COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY IN THE EVALUATION OF THE PATIENT WITH HEPATITIS C-RELATED LIVER CIRRHOSIS (Abstract): Cirrhosis is an increasing cause of morbidity and mortality, one of the most common causes being hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Diagnosis, staging and complication assessment are equally important in patients’ management, as well as establishing the right indication for antiviral treatment and further followup. So far, it is well recognized the role of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) in the evaluation of focal liver lesions in the cirrhotic liver, while its capabilities of describing morphological changes of the liver and the extrahepatic response to increased portal pressure is less extensively used. The aim of this review is to underline the utility of MDCT as a useful complementary tool in the evaluation of patients with hepatitis C-related cirrhosis.

Abstract       Background and objective: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus with high tendency toward hepatic tissue. There are currently about 3 million HBV-infected people and 350 to 400 million chronic carriers of this virus in the world. X protein plays a role in the over-expression of oncogenes, carcinogenicity of liver cells and overlaps with the basal co...

Evaluation of miR-101 Level in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection and Liver Cirrhosis

ABSTRACT        Background and Objective: MiRNAs are small RNAs that are expressed in most eukaryotes, and can regulate gene expression by attaching to the 3’ end of target mRNA. MicroRNA-101 (miR-101) post-transcriptional regulation is important for host-virus interactions. In addition, miR-101 has a tumor suppressive role in liver cancer and metastasis, an...
